Here are some pictures of Daniel enjoying the rest of his birthday today, unlike his doctor appointment this morning. I took Daniel to the park after lunch and he was very happy to go there- that cured the tears still sitting on his cheeks from the doctor. Then, after his nap, we told him he had more presents to rip and boy was he excited! He jumped right into the pile and started spreading out the presents. We also noticed that he was shaking the presents, too! How do they know to do that so early on? You could tell he was really excited about the ones that made noise, too. He opened every present and he sure tore right into them, with a little start from mommy and daddy if needed. It was pretty funny, because today he just kept right on tearing and tearing and tossing the bits of paper aside- he didn't care one bit about the garbage like he did the other day. I got a kick out of this. You can see in one of the pictures above that he's just tossing the paper behind him. He loved his presents and of course wanted each one opened immediately, just like the other day. His favorite present from us is the fire station- it's got the "wiuwiu" (siren sound- how do you spell that?!) truck, the fire truck.
After we opened the presents, we actually managed to get Daniel away from his new toys with the promise of fries and a "eee" (hot dog) at his fave restaurant, Portillo's. Birthdays are meant for going to your favorite restaurant, so of course we treated Daniel to a fun dinner out. He ate a great dinner and then he was soooo excited to get back home to play with his new toys. The whole way home, he was in the back seat, saying "play wiuwiu truck" and even the neighbor's dog running over to say hi didn't stop Daniel from running in to start playing. He always loves to say hi to Gizmo, but apparently not when there are new toys to be played with! I thought that was cute.
Daniel also got to enjoy another cupcake after dinner- they are finally all gone now! He gobbled it right up and I got a great "cheese" picture afterwards, too!
Daniel enjoyed a fun present the other day from Uncle Brad and Aunt Rose, too. That first picture is Daniel enjoying the new car coloring book and crayons that they gave him. While he liked the crayons and coloring book, he LOVED the cars that came attached to the book. Thanks for a fun present, Uncle Brad and Aunt Rose. As a side note, I noticed something today while we were playing- Daniel knows when the cars are facing backwards. He kept turning them around so they were facing forward and then driving them. He did it again and again with these two new race cars. I thought that was pretty observant of him. Way to go, Daniel!
All in all, it was a fun 2nd birthday we celebrated around here!
