We had a beautiful day for the zoo on Tuesday and we were so glad to enjoy our trip with my Aunt Jackie (back in town again, before she left for Thailand yesterday) and Daniel's Aunt Christina. We had so much fun! One of the nice things about having a membership there is being able to check out something new each time; and this time we went into the Butterfly Garden for the first time and on the Carousel again! Daniel liked the "buds" (bugs) in the Butterfly Garden, but mostly he liked the waterfalls. And he wanted to go on the Carousel as soon as he saw it- so we took him right on it and he LOVED it! He kept saying "up, down" the whole time and as it slowed down, he kept saying and signing for more, more. Aunt Christina and Great-Aunt Jackie even rode, too!
The weather was perfect- for people and animals both; the animals were all up & about since it so nice and breezy, so we got to see lots of animals in action which was lots of fun. The bears and lions were all quite busy today. We were so glad for the wonderful weather.
I think Daniel's favorite exhibit this time was the chicken house in the Children's Zoo. The chickens were quite chatty, clucking away, and Daniel was having a ball trying to imitate them- Christina got a great shot of Daniel with his mouth in an "O" doing his imitation. I tried to get a video, but by then he'd stopped. Maybe next time!
I got a cute picture of Daniel looking at the "bebe" on Christina's camera, too. Daniel is obsessed with looking at the baby on our camera, so much so, that we can hardly take pictures of him sometimes because he just wants to look at the pictures! It is so fun to snuggle up with him, though, and look at the pictures. We always talk about what the baby is doing and where he is and so forth. It's amazing what Daniel remembers and what he can tell you by looking at the pictures. I know it's a great tool for his language development, so I enjoy every minute, even though I'd like to take pictures, too.
Poor Daniel...his hands are in his mouth all the time these days because of those new teeth coming in, and our day at the zoo was no exception. So after petting goats (you can see how pleased he was with himself in the one super cute picture with the huge smile!), you can bet we washed his hands to the max.
Aunt Jackie, we will all miss you dearly and look forward to your return in a year (or two?)... we hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Thailand! Thank you so much for visiting us!
And thanks to both wonderful aunts for joining us on a fun day at the zoo! Daniel sure loved it!
