Toddler Daniel started toddler classes at the park district this week. We are going to a Toddler Tunes class and a Wiggles & Giggles class. I took lots of pictures today at Wiggles & Giggles, which was a big hit with Daniel. He loved playing in the gym with all the different toys, balls, and equipment. There's lots of space to move around and crawl and drive the toy cars- though I have to say Daniel looks so small in that big space! In both classes, Daniel is undoubtedly the youngest and littlest in the class, but he sure jumped right in and played. In Toddler Tunes, we sang some songs and played with instruments. It was fun, and Daniel took some interest in the instruments but he also just crawled around and explored the room. It was interesting to see how eager and curious he was in another setting with a lot of other kids and adults. He was not shy by any means. Wiggles & Giggles was mostly play time, with a few songs and a story which did not interest Daniel- he just kept playing and crawling and that was quite all right. Apparently there's even usually a craft- that should be interesting. We'll see next week. The big car and ball pit were a hit with Daniel- he walked that car around for quite a while and then I tried to get him interested in other things and he eventually found the ball pit and had fun in that. It's a very small "pit" but he could climb into it himself and he was very interested in the balls in there. He was even clapping while sitting there- it was so cute to watch. He was also very interested in the parachute which the adults waved up and down while the kids walked around under it. I walked Daniel under that and he was delighted- especially when one of the teachers kept saying peek-a-boo to him. The other fun thing was the Tick-Tock song we learned- Daniel picked up on that one real fast and got excited because you lift the kids up for each hour (1:00 once, 2:00 twice, etc) and he LOVED that. He's getting pretty good at predicting things and knowing when something fun like that is going to happen, especially with songs. Daniel sure had a lot of fun today and I think that we will really enjoy that class!
